It’s inevitable; someone will hack a store or service you love at some point. The reason for this is two-fold: 1) many companies are not fully aware of the resourcefulness of hackers and how generally unsafe their storage methods are, and 2) even when they are aware, retailers may prefer to save money in the short term rather than protect their customer base (and themselves).
So, the question is, how do YOU protect yourself? Paying with cash at brick-and-mortar stores is, obviously, the ultimate safety (although who wants to carry that much cash around?) But it a isn’t practical solution. Our friends at Wired sorted out the safest ways to shop safely online, including at least one method we’ve already spoken about.
Happy (safe) shopping!
