Open a window in Chrome, type “international student scholarship [your major],” and I’d be surprised if you don’t find a few hundred (if not a few thousand) dollars you can apply for, for free, today.
Money is out there — for all kinds of students and recent graduates — and if no one applies for it, no one claims the prize. You may only be competing with a handful of applicants for some of these contests. Sure, you have to go through the trouble of writing an essay but most essays can be repurposed with some minor edits (make DOUBLE-sure you don’t mention the wrong institution in your recycled application essay). So isn’t it worth it to try? Why yes, yes it is.
Here’s a few international student-friendly scholarships and fellowships we found with a simple search:
Rocket 55 Scholarship
We were inspired by the folks at Scholly, a powerful scholarship search app, to improve our Google-searching capabilities when targeting funding resources. If you’re serious about finding multiple sources of funding, their app is a worthwhile (and pretty cheap) way to search for all the available cash out there right now. Oh, and they have both iOS and Android apps.
Good luck and tell us what you find!
