Who is Design Services Inc.?
Designing with People in Mind for Over Twenty Five YearsIngrid L. Fraley, principal of Design Services Inc., established the business in 1984 to offer quality in design and value in the specification and procurement of finishes and furnishings. Graduating from The American University in 1974, Ms Fraley spent the next ten years in the workplace as Director of Design for The Porter Group, Inc. and subsequently as the Director of Interiors for SFCS, Inc.
Design Services Inc. focuses its practice on the design of life-enhancing environments for older adults. With our knowledge of the aging process, we can demonstrate how interior environments often create physical challenges for the older adult. Our goal is to overcome these obstacles, ensuring that our interiors are supportive of the aging process, while remaining durable and aesthetically pleasing. These goals can be achieved even with the most modest of budgets. In addition to our market rate properties, many of our projects are tax credit, section 8 or HUD 232 designations. With creative planning, responsible budgeting and compassion for the elderly, supportive environments are possible.
It has always been a priority of Design Services to educate professionals in the field of senior housing. We have presented seminars on a variety of topics at the national conventions for the American Institute of Architects, The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aged, and the Assisted Living Federation of America, to name a few. In February 2009, Principal Ingrid Fraley participated in a Congressional Briefing on behalf of the American Institute of Architects Design for Aging Knowledge Community to discuss the economic impact of the increase in population of older Americans and their need for affordable housing.
